The visits formed part of the Fund’s ongoing efforts to engage directly with institutions that are expanding skills development opportunities in rural communities, while strengthening collaboration across the tertiary and higher education sector in The Gambia.
During the engagements, discussions focused on the role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in equipping young people with practical skills and improving access to training opportunities across the country. The meetings also provided an opportunity for the THET Fund leadership to listen to the experiences and perspectives of the institutions as they work to build capacity and support skills development at the community level.
A key priority for the THET Fund is ensuring that education, skills development, and opportunity are inclusive and accessible to all Gambian youth, regardless of where they live. The Fund believes that talent exists in every community and remains committed to supporting systems that enable young people from both urban and rural areas to learn, grow, and thrive.
The discussions reaffirmed a shared vision of building stronger institutions, expanding access to practical skills training, and creating pathways to employment and entrepreneurship across the country, ensuring that no young person is left behind because of geography.
The THET Fund leadership also expressed appreciation for the warm reception and valuable insights shared during the visits.
